What My Startup Isn’t

Well, I’ve recently taken the plunge and decided to start my own web startup. Whilst I’m not yet ready to reveal what I am doing, I do feel ready to reveal some of the many things that I’m not doing:

  • A social networking site (MySpace, Facebook, etc…)
  • A photo sharing service (PhotoBucket, Flickr, Zooomr, etc…)
  • A video sharing service (YouTube, …)
  • A social music site (Last.fm, …)
  • A Google Maps “mash-up” (or any kind of mapping site)
  • Online “Office” software/services/solutions
  • Web based Project Planning / Bug Tracking / Task Management
  • Blogging software / Tumbleblogging software / Twitter clone/competitor
  • Webmail / chat / VOIP / messaging / etc…
  • Online photo or video editing
  • A user configurable “home page” service
Why not? Because I think there are already plenty of great people (and plenty more not so great people), working on those kinds of apps.
