Apple TV in the UK
(Rant triggered by: BBC gets TV on-demand service OK)
Apple seriously need to start getting their act together in the UK, as they are very rapidly losing ground to Microsoft.
We need UK TV shows available on iTunes, so we can have them on our iPods and (preferably in high-def) on our Apple TVs. The BBC’s video podcasts at the moment are a joke, we don’t want small 5 minute bonus material, or trailers, we want full shows!!!
I have an Apple TV, but there really is very little point in having one in the UK at the moment, and the extra hassle (and loss of quality) involved in viewing my EyeTV recordings on the Apple TV means I’m very tempted to unplug it and plug my EyeHome back in instead.
Currently the only advantage the Apple TV has over my EyeHome is that it can play iTunes Music Store (DRMed) music; whereas, the EyeHome has the advantage of playing a much broader variety of media types than an (unhacked) Apple TV, and it can play EyeTV recordings directly (currently the only, legal, way to get UK TV shows from a Mac to a TV).
